6 Brilliant Camping Activities for Kids
A camping holiday, be it out in the bush, the backyard or at a campground is a great way to spend time with your family. Sometimes though, there can be a bit too much time and that’s where these six camping activities come into play. Designed to entertain the kids while requiring minimal effort from the grown-ups, they’re sure to be a hit for your family.
- Glow in the dark puzzles – when it starts to get dark and you want an activity to help the kids wind down, our glow in the dark puzzles are ideal. Set out a board either in or of the tent and just watch them having fun (with your wine in your hand, of course).
- Glow stick ring toss – bring out those glow sticks and join together into small rings. Then set out a few sticks and earn points for throwing the ring over the stick. Winner gets Mum her next glass of wine…
- Torch tag – if you’re camping in the right spot, a game of hide and seek combined with torch tag is rather fun. A pro tip – use those hand charged dynamo torches and you won’t need to worry about batteries.
- Target practice – draw some targets on trees and rocks with chalk, bring out the water pistols and start washing those targets away.
- Paint rock pets – hunt out some smooth rocks near your campsite and then spend time decorating them with paint. Or for a mess free activity that younger children will love, paint the rocks (and everything else) with water and a brush instead.
- Banana boats – ideal for when the BBQ or fire pit is getting cooler. Cut a slit in the skin of a banana and have the kids add chocolate chips in the slit. Then wrap up the banana in tinfoil and place on the heat source. After a few minutes you’ll have a yummy cooked banana covered in melted chocolate.
