Creative Stamping Ideas for Kids
Mr Squoodles and I are continually amazed at the stamping ideas our (not so little) Squoodles Bugs come up with. With their creativity continually being sparked by both pre-made stamp kits and DIY hand stamps, we know that our boys won’t be the only ones that love stamping!
We’ve put our heads together and are sharing some of our favourite stamping ideas, plus a couple of neat ones we’ve discovered online.
7 Fun Stamping Ideas for Kids
We’ve pulled together seven activities for kids to do using pre-made and homemade stamps:
- Nature art stamping – head outdoors and collect a variety of leaves, flowers, seedpods, sticks, feathers and rocks. Dip these in ink or paint, then onto paper.
- Water stamping – on a hot dry day, head outside and hunt out some largish objects such as gumboots, rocks, sticks and pinecones. Dip them into a bucket of water and then onto some smooth concrete. How many can you stamp before the first one starts to dry up?
- Cardboard roll stamping – grab those empty paper towel cardboard rolls and cut into quarters. One end of the roll can be squished or cut into a shape or left as is. Dip the end in paint to create some great DIY stamp patterns.
- Colouring book – create your own colouring book using our Tane and Ruby’s NZ Tiki Tour Stamp Kit. Every stamp made can become a part of the picture to colour in or can be added to an existing picture to add more details.
- Hands and feet – there’s nothing more fun than creating hand and footprints using paint! Or for a less messy activity, create these stamp prints in playdough instead. Fingerprints can also be stamped and then once dry on paper, can be transformed into cute little animals and insects by drawing different parts on them with
- Recycled stamping – raid the recycle bin for clean bottle lids, straws, bubble wrap and cardboard. Use these objects to create your own DIY stamping kit.
- Glue & glitter stamping – instead of using paint or a stamping pad, dip the stamp end in glue followed by glitter to make a sparkly stamping picture. If these are pressed onto cut out cardboard shapes, they make great Christmas tree decorations too.
