Amazingly Easy Science Activities Your Kids Will Love

Forget complicated instructions and scientific terminology, because we’ve found some of the easiest science activities for kids – and today we’re sharing them with you.

4 Incredibly Simple Science Activities for Kids

Science for kids is all about learning how things work, as well as cause and effect. When I jump off the playground, I fall to the ground and that’s due to gravity. Leaves turn brown in the winter, birds live in nests, babies come from Mummy’s tummy…

While we’re not diving into where babies come from, because that’s a bit of science they need to know about way, way later, I do have four neat science activities the kids can do instead.

  1. Bubbles – what’s not to love about bubbles. They glisten in the sun, float in the wind and you can pop them! But what if I told you there was an activity where you could catch a bubble in your hand? Bubble Blast will teach your child how bubbles work and have fun throwing them around.
  2. Celery Game Changer – demonstrate how water moves up a plant from roots to leaves in this neat science activity. In one cup mix water and blue food colouring, and in another water and red food colouring. Cut vertically up the centre of a stick of celery enough so that each end can sit in a cup. Over the next few days, watch the food colouring and water rise up the stalks to the leaves.
  3. Rain Gauge – cut the first few centimetres off the top of an empty plastic drink or milk bottle. Invert the lid back into the bottle and make a line at each centimetre from the base up. Place outside to catch and measure how much rain you have had. Science activities which are based on things kids already know a bit about are usually very popular. You could find yourself extending this activity by looking at the types of clouds which mean rain is coming, or from which heavy rain falls.
  4. Best Chocolate Milkshake – even the most bored tween will be into making their very own chocolate milkshake mixer. Learning about vortex science, magnetism and electronic circuits is part of the fun with the Mac Makerson & The Chocolate Milk Tornado science activity.

There are plenty more easy and fun science activities for kids, and we happen to have many of the science kits available in our shop. Head over to take a look – and remember they make fabulous birthday and Christmas presents too.
